Hello, My name is Tash

Starting with a candle making kit I brought before the lockdown 2.0. Worried I would get bored – I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a few activities on hand. 

How wrong was I? Working as a People, Performance and Culture Manager, I’d say, my role quadrupled during the heat of Covid.

In fight or flight mode, like many, it was head down, bum up – get it done, survival.  Unfortunately, the candle making kit didn’t see the light of day. Until one random night, two friends and I dusted it off and got our art on!

I still have vivid fond memories of that night! Early hours of the morning foraging my street for leaves or flowers to create our creations.

Giving my first ever candles as valentines’ gifts to a few ladies at work, the next day I arrived too a huge box of candle supplies sitting on my desk. Just accumulating dust, Kelly passed on her box of goodies. It was like Christmas! With a variety of waxes, fragrances and contrapments I had never seen, I continued to experiment. My house soon was full of candles and guaranteed, if it was your birthday – you guessed it, a candle would be gifted!

After leaving my corporate 8-5 position 6 months ago, I had no plan of what was next… Fast forward to now and it’s exciting to see Koa Kandles bring together lots of my passions, hobbies and hold space where I can continue to learn and share.

Scary but exciting… this is the first time I am sharing my creations past family and friends. You’re pretty darn awesome for supporting my small creative business, THANK YOU!

I hope you find a candle that brings as much joy as creating it brought me.
