How do I book?

Simply choose your preferred workshop date and number of spaces, then complete your booking online. You'll receive an email confirmation with all the workshop details. 

We will even give you a heads up closer to the event so you don't forget!

What if I can't make it?

Life happens! I totally get it.

If you can let me know at least 48 hours' before the workshop I'll happily find another available workshop date that works for you.

Within 48 hours, bookings can't be rescheduled, but you're welcome to send someone in your place. Just let us know their name.

Tickets are non-refundable for change-of-mind cancellations, except where required by law.

What if Koa Kreative cancels a workshop?

If we need to cancel a session, you'll have the choice of transferring to another available date or receiving a full refund.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all! Whether you're a first-timer or a creative at heart, I'll guide you through everything.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely! Come solo, bring a friend or make it a date. There's a place for everyone at our table.

Is there an age limit?

Everyone aged 10 and over are welcome!

Anyone aged 10–15 must be accompanied by a paying adult who participates in the workshop too.

Will I get messy?

A little creative mess is all part of the fun! We'll have aprons ready for you, and our natural plant-based wax is easy to clean up. I recommend wearing something comfortable, as some fragrance oils can stain. Roll up your sleeves and leave the cleaning up to us!

What if I have allergies or sensitivities?

Please let me know about any fragrance, wax or food allergies when booking. I have disposable gloves and masks available for anyone who would prefer to use them.

We use fragrance oils during our workshops, so please be aware that scents will be present throughout the space. Masks and gloves may help with some types of contact or exposure, but they cannot prevent all allergic reactions.

When can I take my candles home?

In most cases, you'll be able to take your candles home on the day! They'll still be freshly poured and a little delicate, so we've got some cute little carriers to help them travel safely.

If they need more time to set, or you'd prefer to collect them later, we can arrange a suitable collection time.

Can I shop Koa Kandles at the workshop?

Of course! We'll have a selection of our sculptural candles and Make Your Own at Home candle kits available to purchase. EFTPOS will be available on the day.

We're so excited to have you join us!

Our workshops are all about getting creative, connecting with others and having a whole lot of fun. Before we get making, please take a moment to read through the nitty-gritty so everyone knows what to expect.

By booking or attending a Koa Kreative workshop, you agree to the following terms and conditions, subject to your rights under New Zealand law.

1. The Candle-Making Experience

Our workshops are relaxed, hands-on experiences designed for beginners and creative enthusiasts alike.

Each workshop runs for approximately two hours and includes:

• Two scented coconut wax candles — one 150ml lidded jar and one 300ml frosted glass candle.

• Access to our Scent Bar to explore and blend fragrances.

• Our Creative Station, with a selection of decorative materials and creative touches.

• All candle-making equipment, materials and guidance.

• Aprons and optional disposable gloves and masks.

• Light refreshments and treats.

• A take-home carrier to help transport your creations safely.

Workshop activities, materials and decorative options may vary slightly depending on availability.

2. Bookings & Tickets

All workshop spaces must be booked and paid for in advance through our website.

Once your booking is confirmed, you'll receive an email with your workshop details. Please keep this handy, either on your phone or printed, as confirmation of your place.

Spaces are limited, and each participant must have their own paid booking.

Only registered participants may take part in the workshop. Additional guests or spectators are not permitted unless agreed with us beforehand.

3. Changes, Cancellations & Rescheduling

We know life doesn't always go to plan!

More than 48 hours before your workshop

If you can no longer attend, please contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled start time.

We'll happily transfer your booking to another available workshop date, subject to availability.

Less than 48 hours before your workshop

Bookings cannot normally be rescheduled within 48 hours of the workshop.

However, you're welcome to transfer your place to someone else at no additional charge. Please let us know their name before the session.

Missed workshops

If you don't attend your booked workshop without prior notice, your ticket will be considered used and cannot be transferred or refunded for a change of mind.

Refunds

Workshop bookings are non-refundable for change-of-mind cancellations.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable New Zealand law.

4. Changes or Cancellations by Koa Kreative

Occasionally, we may need to change a workshop date, time, venue or activity due to unforeseen circumstances, including illness, venue availability, safety concerns or events beyond our control.

If this happens, we'll contact you as soon as reasonably possible using the details provided with your booking.

If we cancel your workshop, you'll be offered the choice of:

• Transferring to another available workshop date; or

• Receiving a full refund.

If a significant change to the date, time or venue means you're unable to attend, please contact us to discuss a transfer or refund.

We reserve the right to make minor adjustments to workshop activities or materials where necessary, provided the overall experience remains substantially as described.

5. Age Requirements

Our workshops are open to makers aged 10 years and over.

• Ages 10–15: Must attend with a participating parent or responsible adult aged 18 or over. The adult must purchase their own workshop ticket and remain with the young person throughout the session.

• Ages 16–17: May attend independently.

• Ages 18+: Welcome to come solo or with friends!

Parents and responsible adults are responsible for supervising the young people in their care and ensuring they follow all workshop safety instructions.

Koa Kreative reserves the right to decline participation where appropriate supervision cannot be provided.

6. Safety First

We'll be working with heated wax, fragrance oils, glass vessels and candle-making equipment.

Your safety is important to us, so all participants must follow the instructions and guidance provided throughout the workshop.

Please be mindful of hot equipment, your surroundings and fellow makers.

Aprons will be provided, and disposable gloves and masks will be available on request.

We use natural plant-based waxes, which are generally easy to clean up. However, fragrance oils, dyes and other materials may stain or damage clothing and personal belongings.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and taking reasonable care of your belongings.

Koa Kreative may pause or stop a participant's involvement if their behaviour presents a safety risk to themselves or others.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Allergies, Sensitivities & Dietary Requirements

We want everyone to feel comfortable and included.

Please let us know when booking if you have any allergies, sensitivities or dietary requirements, including those relating to:

• Fragrance oils, essential oils or scented products.

• Wax or candle-making ingredients.

• Food or beverages.

• Other materials used during the workshop.

Our workshops involve fragrance oils and scented products, and fragrances may be present throughout the space.

Disposable gloves and masks will be available for anyone who would prefer to use them. However, these cannot guarantee protection from allergic reactions or fragrance exposure.

If you have a significant fragrance sensitivity, respiratory condition or serious allergy, please contact us before booking to discuss whether the workshop environment is suitable for you.

Light refreshments may include brownies, cheese, crackers and other treats. While we'll do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

8. Creative Materials & Decorations

Everything you need to create your candles will be provided.

Our Creative Station includes a changing selection of decorative materials, which may include botanicals, shells and other creative elements.

You're welcome to bring along a little treasure you've found in nature, but please check with us before adding anything to your candle.

Not all decorative materials are safe to place in or near a burning candle. We'll guide you on which materials can be used safely and where they should be placed.

For safety reasons, Koa Kreative may decline the use of unsuitable materials or decorations.

9. Taking Your Candles Home

In most cases, your freshly made candles will be ready to take home at the end of your workshop.

As they'll still be newly poured and a little delicate, we'll provide a handy take-home carrier to help transport them safely.

Please keep your candles upright and handle them carefully during transport.

If your candles need additional time to set, or you'd prefer to collect them later, we'll arrange a suitable collection time with you.

We'll also provide guidance on curing, candle care and safe burning.

For the best results, please follow the candle-care instructions before lighting your creations.

10. Gift Vouchers

Koa Kreative workshop gift vouchers are valid for three years from the date of purchase.

Gift vouchers may be redeemed against eligible Koa Kreative workshops, subject to availability and the conditions stated on the voucher.

To redeem a voucher, select an available workshop session and enter your valid voucher code during the booking process.

A voucher does not reserve a workshop space until a booking has been successfully completed and confirmed.

Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash, except where required by law.

Once a workshop booking has been made using a voucher, our standard booking and rescheduling terms apply, subject to applicable consumer rights.

11. The Koa Pop-Up Shop

A selection of Koa Kandles products may be available to browse and purchase during your workshop, including:

• Handmade sculptural candles.

• Selected Koa Kandles creations.

• Make Your Own at Home candle-making kits.

Products and availability may vary between workshops.

EFTPOS will be available for purchases on the day.

12. Photography & Social Media

We love capturing the creativity, laughter and little moments that make our workshops special!

Photos and short videos may be taken during workshops for Koa Kreative's website, social media and promotional content.

We'll let participants know when photography or filming is taking place.

If you'd prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let us know before the workshop begins. We will respect your choice.

We will seek permission from a parent or guardian before using identifiable images of participants under 16 for promotional purposes.

You're welcome to take your own photos throughout the workshop, provided you respect the privacy and preferences of other participants.

We'd love to see your creations, too! Tag @koakandles on Instagram so we can share the joy.

13. Respecting Our Space & Each Other

Our workshops are designed to be welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

Please treat fellow participants, workshop hosts, equipment and venues with care and respect.

We ask that everyone follows venue rules, respects personal boundaries and contributes to a positive workshop atmosphere.

Disruptive, unsafe, threatening or inappropriate behaviour may result in a participant being asked to leave.

Any decision to end someone's participation will be handled reasonably and in accordance with applicable law.

14. Personal Information

When you book a workshop, we collect information necessary to process your booking, communicate with you and provide the experience.

This may include your name, contact details, booking information and any allergies or accessibility requirements you choose to share.

Your information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable New Zealand privacy law.

We won't add you to marketing communications without an appropriate lawful basis.

15. Questions or Special Requests?

If you have any questions, accessibility needs, allergies or special requests, please get in touch before booking.

We'll do our best to help make your Koa Kreative experience enjoyable and comfortable.

16. Agreement to Terms

By completing a booking, you acknowledge that you've had the opportunity to read and understand these Workshop Terms & Conditions.

These terms apply alongside your rights under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
